With its superior mechanical properties, Zeus LCP fiber out-performs nearly all other commonly used non-metal braiding materials and even rivals stainless steel in a number of areas. Catheters made with our LCP monofilament exhibit the exceptional response and pushability needed for a deflectable catheter. Yet, as a non-metal, catheters made with Zeus LCP braiding are MRI-compatible and thus eliminate the potential for radiation exposure associated with x-ray.
    For the catheter manufacturing process, Zeus LCP is easily braided into industry-standard equipment and resists fraying (“bird nesting”). Our LCP also resists kinking and can be wound onto Steeger and Wardwell bobbins and DIN 160 spools.

    RAUMEDIC produces tubing extruded from PTFE Moldflon. This is a special thermoplastic material that in contrast to regular PTFE, can be processed from the melt – a major advantage in terms of economy and processability for PTFE.
    Unlike traditional PTFE that is processed from a batch ram extrusion process, PTFE Moldflon is processed continuously on a single screw melt extruder. This is highly advantageous for long continuous tubing production runs and for PTFE with co-extruded radiopaque stripes.
    PTFE Moldflon is a biocompatible thermoplastic with very similar physical properties to traditional PTFE. In addition, further testing has also been performed to realize its benefits for secondary thermo forming operations such as tipping and flaring.

    The Amara View CPAP is a minimal contact oral/nasal mask design. The package captures and contains the mask without contacting the delicate silicone membrane of the mask. The biggest challenge was containment of the mask to the package because there are no straight edges on the face plate of the mask to snap on. To minimize the use of packaging, a two-piece containment design was not an option. This led to the claw design to snap onto the clip areas. In addition, the package needed to mimic a human face to visibly convey mask use. The mask packaging is required to protect the delicate silicone membrane which serves as the sealing surface to the patient’s face. The packaging must protect the seal membrane from possible compression settling due to extended storage times and transit through the mail to patients. This package won the "Best in Show" Ameristar award for 2016.

    Dukane’s new Laser Welding System allows clear-to-clear plastic welding without the need for any laser absorbing additives. This system incorporates a recently developed 2 micron laser with a greatly increased absorption by clear polymers and enables a highly controlled melting through the thickness of optically clear parts. The beam delivery system integrates both, programmable multi-axes servo gantry and a scan head, supported by a proprietary LaserLinQTM software, which harmonizes the action of both components moving the beam. This system provides users the ability to break complex weld patterns into separate geometric segments, modify each segment independently and assign different welding parameters to each segment. All laser enclosures are Class I CDRH certified and utilize laser-safe glass viewing windows.

    Challenges: Our Customer needed a very highly cosmetic part that is flash free. This project had complex part geometry making it very challenging to keep good crisp seal off areas with no flash. The PC resin grade was very prone to sticking and required coatings to allow for good part release. Our Customer also needed the weld lines (end of fill) to be away from structural areas so the parts do not fail during consumer use.
    Diamond Tool was able to successfully build and test run both injection mold tools using our Solidworks Plastics Premium mold fill analysis (to determine best gate location), experienced Engineering team, highly trained/experienced shop, and our in-house mold sampling capabilities.

    Unlike traditional PTFE that is processed from a batch ram extrusion process, PTFE Moldflon is processed continuously on a single screw melt extruder. This is highly advantageous for long continuous tubing production runs and for PTFE with co-extruded radiopaque stripes.
    PTFE Moldflon is a biocompatible thermoplastic with very similar physical properties to traditional PTFE. In addition, further testing has also been performed to realize its benefits for secondary thermo forming operations such as tipping and flaring.

    Heitec was the first supplier to introduce the Slim-Line nozzle for inside gating of cosmetic caps in 1992. With the recent introduction of the new “X-Slim” Hot Runner Nozzle one will be able to process larger shot weights with relatively small installation bores. This new nozzle design has the largest flow channel diameter to installation bore diameter ratio on the market. For example type 01.059.11 comes with a 4.5 mm flow channel diameter, but only requires a 11 mm installation bore diameter. Installation bore types range from 11 to 20 mm diameter. The benefits of this new series are wide ranging from being able to process larger parts with less installation room to allowing more flexibility in choosing the best gate location. This nozzle series is available as a hot tip or as a valve gate version. Lengths can be chosen from 50 to 300 mm.
